Dear Junior High Families,
I hope this email finds you well. This email is to a remind you of our activities for Thursday (10/31) and Friday (11/01).
October 31st is the Halloween evening before All Saints’ Day. The name “Halloween” comes from the shortening of “All Hallows’ Eve”.
November 1st is All Saints’ Day. It is a day to honor all saints and martyrs who have died. It’s a holy day of obligation for us Catholics.
Thursday, October 31
Students in JH will not be attending the Thursday Mass and may come to school in costume. Please read carefully the Halloween costume guidelines.
To ensure that all costumes follow our School’s Halloween costume guidelines, your teacher would like to ask everyone what costume each student is planning to wear on October 31. Please be sure costumes meet all guidelines. They must be appropriate and pre-approved, or a student may be sent home to change. Please let teachers know what your child is wearing by October 25 (this can done via email).
- Costumes should be child-friendly since we have K-8 students in our school. No inflatables, no gory or scary clowns, no devils/demons, or evil costumes
- No Harry Potter or Pokémon costumes on campus please
- Costumes Should Not:
- Be obstructive, offensive, inappropriate for a Catholic school (skimpy or revealing), gory, evil, or violent
- Drag on the ground. Students should be able to sit down in costumes
- Contain sharp objects, pointed objects, or materials that may accidentally strike another person.
- Contain any weapons that resemble or could be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Encourage cross-dressing. Boys please dress up like boys, and girls dress up like girls.
Please remember that as a Catholic school, we are promoting values aligned with our Catholic faith where God comes first. While our school families’ faith is strong, and has been developing beautifully these past couple of years, we just want to make sure that all our students and families are protected from dark themes in books and media they are exposed to that might eventually lead them astray.
Thursday is noon dismissal and daycare will be open until 3pm only.
Friday, November 1st (Regular School Day)
Students must wear the Saint costume over their PE or regular uniform. Students can choose any saint they wish to portray on Friday. No cross-dressing is allowed. This will part of their Religion participation grade.
If your student is part of choir, they must check in first with your homeroom teacher. Choir members will process first followed by the Kindergarten class.
Should you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you and God Bless!
Sincerely,
Ms. Garcia
