Dear Kinder Families,
Happy 15th week of Kindergarten! I hope you all had a restful Thanksgiving Break to spend with your loved ones! I am truly grateful for each and every one of your children and your families. We have about 2 and a half weeks before Christmas Break, and we have a lot to accomplish still! Please take the time to read below for important upcoming information! If you miss a weekly newsletter, you can always check out my class blog at http://www.stanthonygardena.org/kindergarten/ !
2nd Trimester Expectations
Kindergarten did an AWESOME job during the first trimester, and I’m very proud of them! This is an exciting time, but it is also a time when our expectations grow to further our preparations for the next grade level.
Here are some of the expectations that I am looking out for:
- All Kindergarteners should know how to write their FIRST NAME, using an uppercase/capital letter to start followed by lower case letters.
- First name and number on ALL assignments (part of work habits grade).
- An uppercase/capital letter at the beginning of EVERY sentence, correct spacing between words and use of a punctuation mark.
- Kindergarteners should know the phonetic sound of ALL the letters.
- All Kindergarteners should know some of our prayers, Sign of the Cross, Guardian Angel, Hail Mary and prayer before meals.
- All Kindergarteners should follow all classroom rules, bathroom rules and school-wide Tribes agreements without being reminded inside and outside the classroom. This includes keeping Hands, Feet and Objects (HFO) to ourselves respecting everyone’s personal space.
- All Kindergarteners should turn-in their green homework folders every day in order to help them be more responsible.
The class is doing a great job with this so far, and I want them to continue to work on being more responsible each and every day!
Kindergarten Ornament Sale!
Each student has crafted one-of-a-kind ornaments. Each ornament is $5 each or you can purchase all six of your child’s ornaments for $20. Parents can prepay by sending in ornament money to school in a sealed and labeled envelope starting Wednesday morning via the front pocket of the green folder. Kindergarten parents have the first opportunity to purchase their child’s ornaments.
All proceeds will benefit our class. We will use the funds for our upcoming field trips, year end picnic, and Kindergarten Promotion.
AFTER-SCHOOL KINDER ORNAMENT & SNACK SALE:
On Friday, 12/6 Kinder will be selling any remainder ornaments left and also snacks! All proceeds from the ornament sale/afterschool sale will go towards our Kindergarten Funds!
Las Posadas & Kinder Christmas Party Monday, 12/9
As a tradition, the Kindergarten class will be celebrating Las Posadas with our 4th graders. Kindergarteners are asked to dress as villagers from Mexico processing to the manger or barn animals. STUDENTS CAN WEAR THEIR PREVIOUS SAINT’S COSTUME FROM 11/2! More or less, the look is quite similar!
We will end our procession in the School Hall followed by our Christmas Party.
Students do NOT need to pack lunch on Monday 12/9, lunch will be provided for our Christmas Party!
