Dear Fourth Grade Families,
I hope you had a good and restful Thanksgiving break. As we are diving in the second trimester, please make sure to read all the important information below to avoid any questions that may already be addressed. If you missed any email, you can find updates on my school blog: http://www.stanthonygardena.org/fourth-grade/.
Deadlines
- December 2: Explorer project
- February 24: 2nd trimester Mass reflection (7 mass reflections)
Friendsgiving
We will have a Friendsgiving December 5th from 8.30am-12.30pm and students will exchange gifts that day. Please note that gifts should not exceed $10 and students have a wish list from their secret Santa. Students may wear their Christmas sweater on that day.
Homework
If your child didn’t give me his/her homework ( your child has received an “IC” Friday 11/22, please have them personally hand it to me this Monday 12/2. Please refer to “Absence” on the syllabus if your child was absent.
Behavior Chart
The behavior chart is sent home daily and has to be signed by the parents. The expectation is to have it back on Mondays so that I can update both behavior and work habit grade. Please help me make sure that students bring back the one from Week of 11/18-11/22. This will be their first behavior grade for the year.
Communication with Mrs. Ekindi
I would like to start by saying I am here to support every single child in my classroom and give them tools to be successful in their lives.
- I also would like to say that the past weeks, I have had some interactions with the parents that in my sense did not follow the Christian Code of Conduct that you have signed. Please for every interaction ” Students and parents or guardians may respectfully express their concerns about the school operation and its personnel. However, they may not do so in a manner that is discourteous, scandalous, rumor driven, disruptive, threatening, hostile or divisive.” http://www.stanthonygardena.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Code-of-Christian-Conduct-3.pdf
- At carline to ensure the safety of all the students under my care, I can’t have communication with you. I am trying to make sure that everyone goes home safely and talking distracts me.
Thank you for your understanding.

2nd Trimester Chapter book (Starting in January)
Our second trimester chapter book is,Tiger Rising, by Kate Di Camillo. In this book, students will learn empathy and get attached to the character. I always encourage students to read the same chapters as the same time so that we could share our feelings.
I recommend purchasing a copy of the book for your child, as it will be used both in and outside of class. The students will benefit from having their own copy to follow along and engage with the text. Please have your child bring the book by Monday, November 18, please consider ordering it from Amazon using the link below: Tiger Rising
