Dear First Grade Families,
Here’s a look at what’s coming up for the week of Jan. 13-17. Please make sure to read all the important information below to avoid any questions that may already be addressed. If you missed last week’s email, you can find updates on my school blog: First Grade Blog.
Important Dates:
- Tuesday, January 14:
- Ocean Institute Field Trip ($32 due Friday, Jan.10)
- Please make your payments to Mr. Aguilar in the office by Friday, Jan. 10 to ensure it has been paid for and recorded.
- All students and chaperones should have filled out a waiver.
- Please help your child fill out this required assessment before Monday. When completed, please email me a screenshot of the completion. Thank you!
- Ocean Institute Field Trip ($32 due Friday, Jan.10)
- Wednesday, February 5:
- 100th Day of School Project
- Please ensure it is your child who primarily completes this project.
- Your child may dress up as a 100 year old person on the due date of the project.

Make-up Assignments and Tests
If your child missed any days last week, they will need to make-up their assignments and/or tests after school tomorrow Jan. 14 from 3p-4p and Tuesday 3p-4p.
Missing Work & Progress reports
Progress reports will be going home on January 24th. Please take a moment to check Gradelink to see if your child has any missing assignments. If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to reach out to me directly—I’m here to help.
As a reminder, the progress report is simply a snapshot of where your child is at right now. There is still plenty of time for grades to improve before final grades are issued at the end of the 2nd trimester.
Thank you Letter to Field Trip Donor
If your child was absent on Thursday, please have them write a Thank You Letter to the DevTo Foundation who have donated funds for our field trip. You may take a picture and email it to me by Monday so that I can send it in with the rest of the class’s letters before the field trip. Here is a link to the letter outline and some samples:
Week Sight Words
Your child may be missing the week 16 sight words page in their blue homework folders, but they will also be on the homework sheet given out tomorrow. I will have Ms. Gabby fix their folders this week. Thank you for your understanding!
