Dear Fourth Grade Guardians, I pray this email finds you well. Here’s a look at what's coming up for the week of Mar.17- Mar.21. Please make sure to read all the important information below to avoid any questions that may already be addressed. If you missed any email, you can find updates on my school blog:https://nnolva.sites.ecatholic.com/fourth-grade Deadlines:
May 27: 3rd Trimester Mass Reflection (10 reflections required)
Monday, March 17th Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Students can wear green tops and regular uniform bottoms. Students must bring in $1 if they want to wear jeans or a free dress bottom. Money raised will go towards items to purchase goodies for the Easter Grams being offered for sale to the school.
Wednesday, March 19th- All School Mass Mass with Father Figures, Feast Day of St. Joseph. Students mustwear formalmassuniforms and invite their father figures to the Mass at 8am in the church. Our class will line up outside downstairs, then we will meet all Father Figures and will walk together to the church. This Friday, we will not have an all school mass, students should wear their regular school uniforms.
3rd Trimester Chapter book This trimester, instead of a chapter, I am thinking about introducing Book club. Tomorrow, we will talk about the options of books and we will see how we can organize our groups. I will send a little bit later this week the groups and the books that they will be reading. This year, we will work with some selected books from Kate DiCamillo, and Roald Dahl.
3rd Trimester How to help my student?
To help your child please make sure that they are completing all work/homework. I will suggest putting an alert on gradelink to follow your child's grade.
Please have your child checking their google classroom daily.
This trimester, please note that you have only one week to complete any late/incomplete work. It is a little hard for me to grade after a month.
Please check and sign the behavior chart daily , it is part of the work habit grade.
Signed tests/Behavior charts
Please note that I am usually sending any graded test home. Please parents sign all tests and have them returned to me.
Math tests should always be signed, corrected and returned to school by the end of the week.
Behavior charts are graded by the students on Fridays. They must return to school on Mondays to allow me to update the weekly behavior grade.
Work
Please try as much as you can to provide missing work within a week. In my policy I am not accepting work more than a week after the due date if the student was in class. Please refer to the "Absences" policy if your student was absent.
On Gradelink whenever you see "IC" please read the comments associated so that you could help your student.
Please give your student access to their Gradelink to monitor their grades.
We also have some issues with students not knowing their emails password. Please provide the necessary information to help me better assist them in class. Thank you.
Truancy Policy Please note that on the syllabus, it stated that every 3 Tardies, students will receive an effort slip. Effort slip will be received this week based on the number of tardies. A student is considered truant when he or she is absent from school without a valid excuse for three full days in one school year or is tardy or absent for more than any 30-minute period during the school day on three occasions in one school year, or any combination thereof. The school shall report the student to the local public school district's attendance office or the public-school district's superintendent.
In the event that a school suspects that a student is truant (absent from school without a valid excuse), the school administration should first contact the parents/guardians. If the school suspects that the student is a habitual truant (absent three times in a school year without a valid excuse) and all resources at the school level have been exhausted, the school principal should notify the local Child Welfare and Attendance authorities.
If a student has been reported once as a truant and then is absent again for one or more days without a valid excuse or tardy on one or more days without a valid excuse, the school should again report the student as truant to the local public school district's attendance office or the public school district's superintendent. A student who has been reported as truant three or more times is considered a habitual truant and is subject to dismissal.
If a student has been absent without excuse, and it is impossible to contact the parents/guardians or designated emergency contacts within 4 hours and after repeated attempts, the school should notify the attendance office of the local public school district, the local police department, Child Protective Services, or all of those agencies.
