Deadlines:
February 24: 2nd Trimester Mass Reflection (7 reflections required)
Tissue Donation for our class As the weather got worse over the last few weeks, in the classroom we are in need of tissue. Ideally I would like to be able to place a box on each table. If you are able to donate a one or two boxes, it would be greatly appreciated! Please feel free to send your donations with your child or drop them off at the school office labeled with our grade.
Wednesday 2/12- Valentines’ Day We will observe Valentines’ Day on Wednesday because Friday is a school Mass Day. Students are able to wear pink and red tops and uniform bottoms on Wednesday. If they want to wear jeans or free dress bottoms, they can give $1, and it will go towards our Student Government for Student Activities. We will have our All School Mass on Friday, 2/14, and students will wear their Formal Mass Uniforms.
Writing Expectations Please note that I told the students that at this moment, they are all expected to write in cursive and in pen unless they are doing math. When answering a question they are supposed to use RACE (attached picture) and use the correct capitalization and punctuation. One way you can help/encourage your student at home is having them answering to you using RACE. For instance if you ask " How was your day today?" instead of them saying " good", have them say " My day was ( Restate ) good (Answer). It was good because I played with my friends (Cite evidence) and I even score a goal ( Explain the Evidence). " This will help better their writing in all subjects. Class Spelling Bee Our classroom Spelling Bee will take place on Wednesday, February 12. All students will participate in this exciting event! Spelling Bee word lists were sent home two weeks ago, ranging from 1st-grade to high school-level words. Please take some time to review these words with your child to help them prepare. The top two finalists from our class will move on to compete in the All-School Spelling Bee on Wednesday, February 19.
Ballona Wetlands fieldtrip We have our upcoming 3rd & 4th Grade field trip to the Ballona Wetlands, happening in February 21st. Mr. Aguilar has sent an invoice to all 3rd and 4th grade families regarding the payment for this trip. The total cost is $15 per student, which covers both the entrance fee and bus transportation. We are fortunate to have received partial funding for the bus, which helped lower the overall cost for each family.
